Modern state-of- the-art plastic blow molding machinery offers the distinct advantage of being able to produce large quantities of bottles at a very high level of efficiency with a minimal wastage factor and low energy consumption.
Bottles are blown directly from resin (primary raw material) instead of preforms (secondary raw material) which are typically used in the soft drink industry. The use of resin results in significant cost savings and a better quality of bottle. The resin is melted at a temperature of 250 degrees Celsius and then blown into the form or shape of a bottle, much like a balloon.
Equipment is computerized with programmable logic controllers (PLC's), which allow the interface with all the machines to allow for a synchronous operation. The PLC's have resulted in the elimination of 'bottle necks' and under supply problems typically associated with integrated conveyor systems. The plastic blow molding equipment is linked via modems to our principal machine supplier whereby real-time diagnosis / analysis / evaluation can be done on the spot, thus enhancing productivity and overall quality of product.
S.M. Jaleel uses state-of-the-art equipment to make preforms which delivers an average of 15000 preforms per hour. The preforms are made directly from resin (raw material) which is melted at a temperature of 250 degrees Celsius and then injected into the form or shape of a preform, much like a test tube. It is fully robotic, efficient, with minimal wastage and low energy consumption.
The preform is then blown into the specific shape of the bottle. With additional heating and compressed air used for blowing the preform into a bottle, an average or 18,000 bottles are blown per hour.
In 2007 we were the first in the Caribbean to manufacture a hot fill PET bottle for our Fruta and Caribbean Cool Hot fill PET range. A special heat-set resin is used for manufacturing this bottle. The two sizes are 500 mL and 250 mL. These bottles are specially designed and can withstand a filling temperature of up to 930C.
All equipment features "high-tech" European design and are fully automated.
Bottles are blown 365 days a year, 24 hours per day.
